‭Day #1 - Monday January 6,2025

Focus: Going deeper in commitment to God and His word.

Scripture: Joshua 24:14 NKJV “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord!”

NOTE: Serve the Lord in sincerity and truth means to worship and dedicate oneself to God with genuine devotion and honesty, without hypocrisy or pretense, fully committing to follow and obey the word of God and living a life aligned with His will.

Day #2 - Tuesday January 7, 2025

Focus: Going deeper and higher with a passion for evangelizing lost souls for Jesus.

Scripture: Proverbs 11:30 AMP “The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God—he gathers them for eternity].

NOTE: A passion for the lost helps us to pray for God to touch and save men, women, boys and girls from their sin and the corrupting influence of the world.

Day #3 - Wednesday January 8, 2025

Focus: Going deeper and higher in our service to God and His church.

Scripture: Acts 1:8 AMP “But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.””

NOTE: Deeper and higher in service to God means to progressively increase the intensity and quality of our commitment to serving God, encompassing a deeper understanding of our faith and a willingness to make an impact for the Kingdom of God.

Day #4 - Thursday January 9, 2025

Focus: Going deeper and higher in our love for Jesus.

Scripture: Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

NOTE: Going deeper and higher in our love for Jesus means to actively seek to intensify and expand our devotion to Him through a personal and committed relationship.

Day #5 - Friday January 10, 2025

Focus: Going deeper and higher in the power of God.

Scripture: Philippians 3:8-10 NLT “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,”

NOTE: Going deeper and higher in God means to develop a more profound and personal relationship with Him, characterized by a deeper understanding of His word and a more intimate connection through prayer, reflection, essentially allowing God’s presence to permeate every area of our lives.

GOING HIGHER AND DEEPER IN JESUS - Isaiah 40:31 NLT

The Importance of Fasting:

Fasting for the believer is not optional, it is a discipline which helps the believer to deepen his/her relationship with Jesus. Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of fasting when His disciples could not cast out the demons which had possessed the a young man with madness. He said in Matthew 17:21 " Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." Jesus Himself fasted for forty days, giving us the example that it is possible for us as followers of Jesus to fast. Let's examine two main questions/focal points about Fasting and Prayer:

What Is Fasting?

1: Fasting is subjecting the body to the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 9:27

2: Fasting is disciplining the body, mind and spirit. Proverbs 25:28

3: Fasting is subordinating our fleshly desires to the desires of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 17:17

4: Fasting sets the Spiritual priorities in our lives. Matthew 6:33

5: Fasting is longing after God. Psalms 63:1-2

Why Should We Fast?

1: Fasting honors God. Matthew 6:16-18, Luke 2:37, Acts 13:2 and Matthew 5:6

2: Fasting helps us to humble ourselves thereby dethroning our selfishness and pride.

2 Chronicles 7:14-15

3: Fasting helps us with repentance and personal failures. Psalm 51, Jeremiah 29:11 and James 4:8-10

4: Fasting helps to dismantle yokes and loose the bands of wickedness. Isaiah 58:6-9

5: Fasting helps to destroy strongholds of doubt and unbelief. Mark 9:25-29

6: Fasting increases confidence and effectiveness in our prayer life.
